Responses to Flamingo Q's on request list, stepsheets, schedule, hotel, and online registration list

2023 is a few wing-flaps away! Are y’all turning pink and prepping your feathers for a fun time in Palm Springs?

I know some of you have… because a few flamingos have emailed me with questions. Their questions are answered here for the full flock to have the same info.

Scroll down for info on the request list, stepsheets, schedule, hotel, and online registration list.

REQUEST LIST

Please send your dance requests in through this form (https://questionpro.com/t/AV0YzZvmw6). Your pre-event requests will help us plan floor splits and help your fellow flamingos see which dances need to be fluffed out and reviewed before the event. You do not have to answer every question to submit your requests. You can submit more than once.

STEPSHEETS

Printed stepsheet packets are by pre-order only and must be ordered by December 31, 2022. Orders can be done through https://www.palmspringswinterbreak.com/shop, scroll down the page (there is a $6 fee) or order a printed stepsheet packet through mail-in of the registration form.  Be sure any mailed-in order for a printed stepsheet packet is postmarked by December 31. Registration forms are still available at https://www.palmspringswinterbreak.com/registration .

All registered event attendees will be emailed a link to the stepsheets, so you do have the option to print your own.

SCHEDULE

Our flamazing flockstars are working, along with the input from the dance request survey, to complete the fabulous schedule. The event schedule will be posted in advance on the website, sent to the Fla-lingo Flash, and shared in the Facebook group. For now, here’s the sky-level plan.

“HOTEL” INFORMATION

The event is held at the beautiful City Pavilion; there is no hotel attached to the event venue. This means all of our fabulous flamingos have their own free choice of where to stay for the event!

The website (https://www.palmspringswinterbreak.com/lodging) has a list of lodging places and websites/apps that may help you find the best fit for your flamingo’s fancies. The information provided is in no particular order, and we have taken cost off the table to leave the decision to you. For specific listed lodging locations, the map shows their location by letter, and the flamingo on the map is our fantastic venue, the Pavilion. Inclusion or exclusion of lodging options on the provided list does not reflect endorsement or non-endorsement of these establishments. There are many hotels in the highlighted area.

Check out prices and amenities. Use any and all group discounts you might have (AAA, AARP, hotel chain points, etc), and remember about the taxes and watch for resort fees - some include these in the price and others do not.

There are many more, so please find what is best for you. Ask each place for their in-room amenities. Also, there are a lot of AirBnB  and VRBO hosts with spots that might work better for you and your fellow flamingos.

Read the reviews if they are recent - several hotels/motels participated in Project Hotel Key to support our communities and needful persons during the pandemic - some have refreshed since then, while, unfortunately, some have not (yet).

We trust we can all make arrangements and meet up for some well-deserved dancing. If you are truly having serious concerns about lodging, try posting in our Facebook Group to ask where others may have booked or if anyone can give reliable opinions on a particular option.  I live about two and a half hours from Palm Springs, so I cannot easily swing by to check spots, but maybe some other friendly flamingos can.

ONLINE REGISTRATION LIST

The list of registered dancers posted on the website will be updated tomorrow. I’m doing my best to keep it updated more frequently as the event gets closer.

If you’ve requested a change in your registration, please check to be sure it’s updated correctly.

If you have fellow flamingos who haven’t registered yet, please let them know that mail-in registrations need to be postmarked by January 9 to reach me in time, and online registrations will be accepted until January 17 unless we sell out before then.

The flamingo wading pool is friskly filling up - Flamingo fundays are on their way!
